Things you need to know about tropical ciclons
Tropical cyclone, also called typhoon or hurricane, an intense circular storm that originates over warm tropical oceans and is characterized by low atmospheric pressure, high winds, and heavy rain.
Near Australia and part of the east of Africa (south Pacific Ocean) tropical cyclones are called cyclones. In the east of Asia (north Pacific Ocean) tropical cyclones are called typhoons. In the center of America are called hurricanes.
People give names to cyclos to identify them. The names are names of women and mens one example is the cyclone called Katrina that was one of the most heaviest tropical cyclones. All the list of names are repeated every 6 years.
The thing that gives power to tropical cyclone is when it is a match of evaporation of water and hot air, that happened in the ocean surface. Then it expands and cools, then it starts to leave hot air of the water vapour. The temperature difference between the warm, rising air and the cooler environment causes the rising air steel going up.
The main effects of tropical cyclones include heavy rain, strong wind, large storm surges at landfall, and tornadoes. The destruction from a tropical cyclone depends mainly on its intensity, its size, and its location. Tropical cyclones can change the landscape near coastal areas, by moving and reshaping sand dunes and causing extensive erosion along the coast. Even well inland, heavy rainfall can lead to mudslides and landslides in mountainous areas.
To stop the effects of cyclones we need: to store food and water somewhere, boarding up windows, to educate people in colleges and school about effects of cyclones and how to deal with them, help people to escape when a tropical cyclone occurs, people can predict a lot of things about tropical cyclones for example the magnitude, effects, etc. and drills can be put in place that makes people more aware of the dangers caused by tropical storms
